Subhead

Every day a different drink. Not just how to make them, but a detailed review of how they actually taste, photos of the drinks, and stories along the way. Starting from the beginning, The Bartender's Black Book will be our guide, taking us

(and our livers) on a journey from which we may never recover. Cheers!

#61: Angel Face

1 oz Gin
1/2 oz Apricot Brandy
1/2 oz Apple Brandy
Combine in a mixing glass with ice, shake, and strain into a chilled glass.

This was such a small drink I wondered if I should serve this in a short glass or a martini glass. As you can see, I chose the martini glass, but mainly for visual interest.

Well, this was sweet, light, and airy, so I guess the name is appropriate. The strong flavors of the apricot and apple with the gin provided a bit of a bite, but still remained subtle. Overall it was pretty good.

I did taste light and feathery, smooth and heavenly, but it really wasn't my style. A bit too much of a "girls" drink for me, but I am glad I tried it.

**************

From the first mission to the last. In honor of the recent launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery on it's last mission, I found this cool photo of the Original Star Trek series cast at the original space shuttle, Enterprise. They actually look like they are having a good time. I can see DeForest Kelley (Bones) engaged with one of the Mission Control Specialists, and the leisure suits are a hoot. Noticeably absent is William Shatner. Probably in his private trailer getting a new man girdle fitted. Yes, I am a total nerd.
